The Department of Meteorology says a couple of showers are anticipated in Eastern and Uva provinces today (Feb 10).
Showers or thundershowers may take place at a few locations in Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts during the afternoon or night.However, primarily fair weather condition will dominate somewhere else over the island.The public is recommended to take appropriate precautions to decrease damages brought on by short-term localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.Sea locations: Showers or thundershowers will occur at numerous places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Hambantota by means of Galle and Matara.A few showers may take place in sea areas off the coast extending from Pottuvil to Trincomalee through Batticaloa.Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph.
Wind speed might increase up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo by means of Puttalam and in sea locations off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil by means of Hambantota.The sea locations off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and in sea locations off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil by means of Hambantota will be relatively rough sometimes.
The other sea areas around the Island might be slight to moderate.
