Kyrgyzstan has categorically denied any state or state-owned entity involvement in breaching Western-imposed sanctions against Russia. The assurance comes amid allegations of Kyrgyzstan exporting prohibited goods to Russia, leading to threats of economic sanctions by the US.The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security acknowledges the potential for private companies to be involved in supplying Russia with sanctioned Western goods, likely unaware of the final consumer or product user.An investigation has been initiated to identify and halt any such activity.US media reported the US government’s plans for economic measures against Kyrgyzstan after its exports to Russia reportedly increased by 250% in 2022 compared to the previous year.Allegations include Kyrgyz companies making significant purchases of sensitive electronics from Chinese and South Korean firms, paralleled by an equivalent export volume to Russia in the same period.Additionally, a shipment of Chinese crop-duster drones, allegedly bought by a Kyrgyz company for resale to Russia, was seized at Kazakhstan’s customs due to insufficient export documentation.Russia maintains its intention to continue developing bilateral relations and economic integration with Kyrgyzstan, undeterred by the potential US sanctions.Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasizes the benefits of such integration for the Kyrgyz economy.
