In the end, stock benchmarks settled little changed from their previous levels.
The BSE Sensex finished just 12 points down at 34,415 while NSE's Nifty lost 1.25 points at 10,564.
However, for both, it turned out to be the fourth consecutive weekly gain.
Investors were a little anxious after the RBI minutes of the policy meeting fuelled expectations of an interest rate hike.
The NSE IT index climbed 5 per cent, with top IT exporter TCS marking its record closing high on solid Q4 numbers.

IT firm Mindtree witnessed the biggest spike in open interest at 29.71 per cent, followed by Oracle Financial Services (28.57 per cent) and Canara Bank (24.92 per cent).
