The smartphone has great build quality, and lasts a long time on a single charge. The fact that it runs on an outdated version of Android and has fairly underwhelming cameras dampens its appeal slightly.

It may not have an all-metal build or the most powerful internals, but it more than makes up for that with great battery life, a vivid 18:9 display, competent cameras, and above average battery life. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 430 processor and comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A (Review) offers immense value for money and is one of the best entry points into the smartphone world. The cameras are quite the let-down, but that is excusable given the price point for this smartphone.

6,999.  Lenovo K8 PlusFor the Lenovo K8 Plus and Lenovo K8 Note, Lenovo ditched its cluttered and bloated Vibe UI in favour of stock Android.

In addition to the fast and fluid software package, the K8 Plus has stellar battery life and good performance courtesy the MediaTek Helio P25 processor and 3GB of RAM. Just like every other phone in this price range, the Lenovo K8 Plus (Review) also comes with a few compromises - the cameras are a bit disappointing and the phone is quite bulky.

All in all though, it makes for quite a decent buy.

7,999 online.  Itel s42The newest smartphone in this list, the Itel S42 (Review) looks sleek and suave and has a vibrant 5.65-inch HD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 425 processor and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It is only available in one variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which retails for Rs 8,499.

Unlike its closes competitor, the Xiaomi Redmi 5, which is available via both offline and online channels, the Itel S42 can only be purchased from brick and mortar stores.  Additional optionsThe 10.or D (Review) offers tremendous value for money but falls just short of the Redmi 5A overall.

The 10.or D will appeal to fans of stock Android as it ships with a software package devoid of any extraneous bloat or customisation out of the box.

10,999, the Honor 9 Lite (Review) is a great smartphone that falls just outside the ambit of this article.

It has a striking glass unibody design, face unlock, a competent dual camera setup at the back and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Huawei's EMUI on top.Another smartphone worth taking a look at is the InFocus Vision 3 (Review).

The smartphone has great build quality, a crisp edge-to-edge 18:9 display and good battery life.

That said, its cameras are underwhelming and it has a tendency to heat up under load.
