(Photo Internet reproduction)The Zambian Ministry of Defense’s Permanent Secretary noted the shared history and challenges between the two countries. He discussed the recent rise in security threats, including terrorism and transnational crimes.Despite challenges like terrorist attacks in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, joint efforts by SAMIM and FADM have significantly reduced violence. These efforts are enabling affected communities to return to normal life. This alliance is part of a wider trend in Southern Africa, where countries collaborate against common threats. However, this approach is similar to defense alliances in Southeast Asia and Europe, which enhance military and diplomatic cooperation.Strategically, this alliance boosts regional stability, contributing to economic development and international relations. It marks a proactive security approach within the Southern African Development Community (SADC), setting a benchmark for regional cooperation. This partnership also underscores the need for dynamic defense strategies to address modern security challenges. In short, it could inspire similar alliances in Southern Africa, impacting the region’s power dynamics and security architecture.
