Despite the harsh media glare,endless meetings and the strain of the new responsibility, RBI governor Shaktikanta Das took some time off this week to attend the wedding reception of former senior bureaucrat Thomas Mathews son.
Mathew was previously in the race for the post of Sebi chairman.
The reception, which was hosted at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi, had a starstudded attendance including former prime minister Manmohan Singh,former vice-president Hamid Ansari, senior BJP leader LK Advani, CPI leader Sitaram Yechury, Union minister Suresh Prabhu, Ratan Tata, jurist Soli Sorabjee, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and judges of the supreme court and high courts.
Das and Mathews relationship goes back to the time when they worked together in the finance ministry.
