NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in negative zone with Nifty Auto index down 1.47 per cent at 9047.65 around 10:16 am on Wednesday due to muted auto sales numbers.
Shares of Eicher Motors (down 5.37 per cent), Mahindra Mahindra (down 3.48 per cent), Tata Motors (down 2.04 per cent) and Tata Motors (down 2.02 per cent) were top losers in index.
Ashok Leyland (down 1.66 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 0.82 per cent) and Apollo Tyres (down 0.79 per cent) too were trading lower.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 40.15 points at 10,869.95 while BSE Sensex was down 113.67 points at 36,140.90.
Among 50 stocks in Nifty index, 13 were trading in green, while 37 were in red.
Shares of Ashok Leyland, YES Bank, Bank of Baroda, SBI, NMDC, ONGC, Tata Motors, Vedanta, SAIL, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, ICICI Bank, MM, JSW Steel, BHEL and BEL were among most traded shares on NSE.
