NEW DELHI: Gains in shares of most oil marketing companies (OMCs) boosted oil gas pack on BSE in Friday's session even as crude oil prices rose in global markets.
Crude oil recovered from early losses after China's commerce ministry said it would hold vice-ministerial level trade talks with US counterparts in Beijing on January 7-8, Reuters reported.Shares of BPCL (up 1.62 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (IGL) (up 1.61 per cent), Oil India (up 1.57 per cent) and ONGC (up 1.57 per cent) were top gainers in BSE Oil Gas index that was trading 0.96 per cent up at 13,529 around 01:10 pm.
Indian Oil Corporation (up 1.55 per cent), Castrol India (up 1.54 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 0.60 per cent), HPCL (up 0.48 per cent) and Reliance Industries (up 0.39 per cent) also traded with gains.
Petronet LNG (down 0.22 per cent) was only stock in index that was in red at that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 195 points at 35,709, while NSE Nifty50 index was up 60 points at 10,732.
Among 50 stocks in Nifty index, 39 were trading in green, while 11 were in red.
In Sensex index, 24 stocks were advancing, but seven stocks were suffering losses.Bharti Airtel, SBI, Tata Motors, Axis Bank and YES Bank were leading among Sensex gainers.
HCL Tech, Infosys, TCS, IndusInd Bank and Larsen Toubro were among top losers in Sensex kitty.
