NEW DELHI: Shares of PSU banks were trading in the positive zone in Tuesday's morning session.Shares of Punjab National Bank (up 1.56 per cent) , Union Bank of India (up 1.15 per cent) , Allahabad Bank (up 1.03 per cent) and Syndicate Bank (up 0.76 per cent) were the top performers in the index.
Canara Bank (up 0.64 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 0.61 per cent) , State Bank of India (up 0.56 per cent) and Bank of India (up 0.54 per cent) too were trading higher.
The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 0.66 per cent up at 3154.50 around 09:58 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 22.80 points at 11,617.25 while the BSE Sensex was up 85.47 points at 38,730.65.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Zee Ent., Ashok Leyland, Bharti Airtel, GAIL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, BPCL, SAIL, Bank of Baroda and RIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
