The Prime Minister is on the first leg of his five-day foreign tour which will also take him to the UK where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
PM Modi and his Swedish counterpart also travelled together in the same vehicle from the airport to the hotel, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted. This will be the first ever India-Nordic Summit, where, apart from PM Modi and Stefan Lofven, the Prime Ministers of the other four Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway will also be present.PM Modi will hold separate bilateral meetings with the leaders of the other four Nordic countries on the sidelines of the summit.
PM Modi said he and Stefan Lofven would interact with top business leaders of both countries and chart out a future roadmap of cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, science and technology, clean energy and smart cities.
A number of agreements are to be signed.
He will also attend a round table of Swedish CEOs.
PM Modi had said ahead of his visit that he was looking forward to deepening bilateral engagement with both countries in a number of areas including trade, investment and clean energy.
He also said Sweden is a valuable partner of India.
PM Modi was welcomed by the Indian community of Stockholm.
