NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the negative zone in Monday's morning session.
Shares of Wipro (down 0.71 per cent) , Tata Consultancy (down 0.65 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (down 0.59 per cent) , Infosys (down 0.56 per cent) , Tata Elxsi (down 0.4 per cent) , Just Dial (down 0.26 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 0.22 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.38 per cent down at 16409.75 around 09:59 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 61.25 points at 12187.0 , while the BSE Sensex was down 199.28 points at 41,413.91.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, SAIL, SBI, Tata Motors, JSPL and JSW Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
