NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with gains in Wednesday's morning session.
Shares of IDFC BANK (up 1.96 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 1.32 per cent) , ICICI Bank (up 1.11 per cent) , State Bank of India (up 1.08 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 0.86 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 0.83 per cent) , Axis Bank (up 0.77 per cent) , Federal Bank (up 0.68 per cent) , HDFC Bank (up 0.66 per cent) , RBL BANK (up 0.6 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.12 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.74 per cent up at 30988.4 around 09:50 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 96.80 points at 12,152.60, while the BSE Sensex was up 325.28 points at 41,292.14.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 45 were trading in the green, while 4 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SAIL, Bharti Airtel, United Spirits, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Oil Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
