NEW DELHI: Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty extended their rally for the third straight session on Thursday after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a relief package worth Rs 1.70 lakh crore to protect the country from the impact of the coronavirus lockdown.The 30-share BSE barometer soared 1,410.99 points or 4.94 per cent to close at 29,947.
Likewise, NSE Nifty settled 323.60 points, or 3.89 per cent, higher at 8,641.45.Meanwhile, known names on Dalal Street including Indiabulls Housing Finance, Suven Lifesciences and GHCL saw bulk deals during the day.
Here are top bulk deals of the day:Sameer Gehlaut buys 23 lakh Indiabulls Finance sharesSameer Gehlaut, Chairman of Indiabulls Group bought 23 lakh shares of Indiabulls Housing on Thursday at Rs 96.56 per share, NSE bulk deal data showed.
At the end of the December quarter, Gehlaut held 0.12 per cent stake in the NBFC.
Shares of the company ended nearly 8 per cent down at Rs 94.35 on Wednesday.
In another development, Tower Research Capital Markets also bought 34.61 shares at Rs 95.80 and sold 33.51 shares at Rs 96.01 per share.Alpha Leon Enterprises buys Suven Life Sciences sharesIn two bulks deals, Alpha Leon Enterprises bought 7.44 lakh shares of Suven Life Sciences at Rs 24.86 per share and sold 1.47 lakh shares of the company at a price of Rs 24.89.HDFC Bank sells 10 lakh GHCL sharesPrivate sector HDFC Bank sold 10,29,440 shares of GHCL at a price of Rs 74.08, BSE data showed.
The scrip, however, closed nearly 5 per cent up at Rs 76.75.
