Federal government has released the regular monthly instalment of post devolution grant to statesThe Financing Ministry has launched the sixth instalment of the post devolution earnings grant of Rs 9,871 crore to the states.
With this, an overall of Rs 59,226 crore has been released to the eligible states as grant in the existing monetary year.States suggested for the grant by the 15th Finance Commission are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.The grant is provided to states under Article 275 of the Constitution and based on the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission.These are launched in monthly installations to satisfy the space in profits accounts of the states post devolution.The commission has recommended these grants to 17 states throughout 2021-22.
The eligibility of states to get this grant and the quantum of grant was decided by the commission, based on the gap in between assessment of profits and expenditure of the state after taking into consideration the evaluated devolution for the fiscal year 2021-22.
The commission has advised an overall grant of Rs 1,18,452 crore to 17 states in 2021-22.
