Afghanistan

The United Nations cultural agency UNESCO said on Thursday it has decided to devote the 2023 International Day of Education (January 24) to Afghan girls and women. On the event of an event to be organized at the UN head office in New York, UNESCO will restore its call to instantly restore their fundamental right to education, the agency said.

& No country on the planet need to bar females and girls from receiving an education.

Education is a universal human right that must be appreciated, & UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay stated in a statement.

& The international neighborhood has the responsibility to guarantee that the rights of Afghan ladies and females are brought back without hold-up.

The war versus females need to stop, & she added.Last month, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) suspended university education for women.

This followed an earlier instruction disallowing ladies from participating in secondary school.According to UNESCO, 2.5 million (80%) of school-aged Afghan women and young women run out school, 1.2 million of whom were rejected access to secondary schools and universities following the choice of IEA authorities. The company said that the choices by the IEA authorities in Afghanistan threaten to erase the advancement gains made by the country over the past 20 years.

From 2001 to 2021, Afghanistan saw a tenfold increase in enrolment at all education levels from around 1 million trainees to around 10 million, with the support of the global neighborhood, including UNESCO.During this period, the number of ladies in primary school increased from practically absolutely no to 2.5 million.

Women & s involvement in Afghan college also increased practically 20 times, from 5,000 trainees to over 100,000.

Literacy rates for females nearly doubled, from 17% of women being able to read and compose in 2001 to nearly 30% for any age groups combined, UNESCO said. The post UNESCO devotes 2023 Int & l Day of Education to Afghan girls and ladies initially appeared on Ariana News.
