BAJURA, AUGUST 13As the water level in Karnali River has increased due to incessant rainfall for some days, human settlements on the banks of the river and suspension bridges over the river are at high risk. Koshi sees rising water level; all 56 sluice gates opened Narayani River's water level still beyond danger mark Some human settlements in Humla, Mugu, Bajura, Kalikot, Achham, Dailekh, Surkhet, Kailali and Bardiya districts have even been displaced.Issuing a notice, District Administration Office, Bajura, has alert district dwellers to take safety measures.

Chief District Officer in Bajura Puskar Khadka, through a public notice, urged the people to take safety measures as the water level in all the local rivers and main rivers had increased. The flood had swept away a suspension bridge over the Karnali River last year.

The flood in the Karnali River swept away dozens of suspension bridges in Humla, Mugu, Kalikot, Achham and Dailekh.

The suspension bridges in different rivers of the districts are at high risk.The fertile lands have also been eroded.

Kawadi Bazaar, Pilichaur Bazaar, office of Jaganath Rural Municipality are also at high risk.Himali Rural Municipality Chairman Govinda Bahadur Malla said that bridges that connected Wai, Badhu Gotri, Rugin and dozens of other bridges that connect Mugu, Humla and Bajura were also at high risk.As many as 1,000 households have been disconnected after a suspension bridge that connected Swami Kartik Khapar and Jagannath Rural Municipality was swept away.

Many brides are also at high risk due to the flood and landslides.According to District Coordination Committee statistics, there are 65 suspension bridges in Bajura and all the bridges are at high risk.A version of this article appears in the print on August 14, 2023, of The Himalayan Times. .
