Walewska Oliveira, a gold medal-winning Brazilian volleyball player, passed away in São Paulo at age 43.The cause remains unknown.

São Paulo’s Public Security Department is looking into the matter.

They’ve called forensic experts to assist.For now, the department keeps specific details confidential.

This ensures an independent police investigation.The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation expressed deep sadness.

They called her an “outstanding athlete” and sent condolences to her family.Ana Moser, a former volleyball player and past Sports Minister, also paid tribute on social media.

She described Walewska as kind, intelligent, and always committed to her team.Beyond her 2008 Olympic gold, Walewska earned a bronze in Sydney’s 2000 Games.

There, she shared her athletic journey.
