KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 9The ninth edition of Nepal International Trade Fair (NITF) is scheduled to take place here from November 30. Germany went from envy of the world to the worst-performing major developed economy.

What happened? PM Dahal seeks proactive role of envoys to promote Nepali migrant workers' rights The four-day event will be held at Bhrikutimandap and feature 505 stalls.

Participating countries include China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, with a focus on promoting Nepali products in the international market.The fair will be organised with support from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, as well as Trade and Export Promotion Centre, Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Nepal Handicraft Federation. Over 300 stalls will showcase domestic and foreign goods and services, attracting buyers from SAARC and other countries.Notable features of the NITF include a 'Made in Nepal Pavilion', a 'Commodity Pavilion', an exhibition of ayurveda-related products, and various lecture programmes.The fair aims to facilitate direct interaction with international buyers and will have separate stalls for handicrafts, tourism, technology, business information, agriculture, energy, and construction-related education.Meetings with business representatives from different countries will focus on bilateral trade promotion and investment.The organisers anticipate around 50,000 local and foreign visitors at this year's fair and will offer free stalls at subsequent district fairs for the best stalls and products.The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the fair will contribute to the economy.FNCCI Vice-President Sur Krishna Vaidya said NITF is a strong platform for the private sector, which created a distinct brand, whereas another Vice-President of FNCCI Hemraj Dhakal said that the special pavilions will enhance the fair's appeal.A version of this article appears in the print on October 10, 2023, of The Himalayan Times .
