BHOPAL: Two months after a human torso was found in a drain, the Janakganj police in Gwalior district said they have cracked the case with the arrest of prime suspect, identified as Nazir Khan.
The human torso was found on on September 29.
Accroding to Gwalior SP Rajesh Singh Chandel, the deceased, was identified as as that of Raju Khan, aged 35 through DNA analysis.Samples matched with his mother.
Raju Khan's disappearance was reported by his family when he failed to return home on the day of the incident.
His family had alleged his prior disputes with Kallu Khan over illicit activities.Police examined CCTV footage from various locations around the incident area to substantiate the accused's actions.During investigation, the accused, Nazir Khan, a resident of Bakra Mandi within the Janakganj police station are, planned the murder.
He said that his father, who was engaged in a grocery shop business as a facade, suspected Raju Khan of informing the police about illegal operations.
On the evening of September 21, Nazir and his father lured Raju to their home under false pretenses and fatally struck him with an iron dumbbell.Subsequently, they dismembered Rajus body into 15 to 16 pieces for disposal.
Utilizing a scooter, the duo discarded the remains in four separate locations along the Swarn Rekha drain.
Despite intensive efforts, the police are yet to recover the murder weapon and the Activa vehicle used in disposing of the body parts.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue the search for crucial evidence, including the knife used in the act.
