
Former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera has been remanded until May 19 by the Mahara Magistrates Court after surrendering to the court today (May 7).Ranaweera had been evading arrest and is an accused in the Kiribathgoda state property fraud case in which former Minister Mervyn Silva is also accused.Silva was arrested by the CID on March 05 for allegedly selling a plot of state-owned land located in Kiribathgoda to a private party after forging documents.The former Minister and three other defendants in the case were recently further remanded until May 19 by the Mahara Magistrates Court.Meanwhile, the court had also issued arrest warrants on former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera and Milroy Perera, who are also implicated in the case.Accordingly, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was instructed by the Mahara Magistrate to arrest the duo and produce them in court at the next hearing.
