Image: Igor BogdanovRumors are circulating of yet another exciting action camera play by DJI.
This time, theyre coming after the micro action camera game that has been dominated by Insta360 and its GO series of cameras.Of course, the story of a new DJI product begins with leaks, and who other than Mr.
Igor Bogdanoff to have the scoop on the products first sighting.Reportedly called the Osmo Nano, which hit the FCC database last month, the camera looks to be slightly bigger than a DJI Mic, but instead of just recording audio, it features a camera on the front.
The camera also features what looks to be a housing it can be attached to that likely gives it additional charges, a larger screen, and can act like its own larger action camera. If this sounds familiar, then youre right; it sounds exactly like Insta360s GO series of action cameras.
These thumb-sized cameras pack a punch and can be used in spaces no other camera can fit.Advertisement - scroll for more contentNow DJIs is a bit more boxy and looks a bit bigger, but still fits the same purpose as the GOs.These smaller size cameras are perfect for POV type shots for adventure creators.
With attachments to go on their shirts, hats, or on a necklace, they give a unique point of view of the action in a smaller form factor than a full-size action camera. While we dont know the details about the Osmo Nano, the Insta360 GO 3S has a magnetic back, which also allows it to be stuck to any magnetic surface, again giving you a unique point of view. There are also a few downsides to using the smaller cameras, as they still can punch above their size in video resolution and features.Insta360 actually sent me a GO 3S, and between it and my GoPro Hero 12 Black, it has become one of my favorite cameras for my personal trips.
Specifically, it works perfectly as an in-car camera, both facing forward and backward. While I dont use it much in its intended use case, I did strap the camera module to my hat once while climbing through a distillery rickhouse.
If I want the camera to face me in the car, the flip-down screen is large and great for seeing what the camera sees.Ive also given it to my dad a handful of times to film his point of view out on the baseball diamond, umpiring games.
Footage that is useful for when he does his training in the winter. Are you excited for a new Osmo form factor? Also, who do you think is the new action camera king: Insta360 or DJI? I mean, sadly GoPro has been slipping lately.
