
The Colombo High Court today (July 16) purchased the adjournment of more hearing of the case filed versus 3 offenders implicated of trying to assassinate the then Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, General Sarath Fonseka, in a suicide bombing at the Colombo Army Headquarters in 2006.
The hearing has been adjourned up until August 4, said Ada Derana reporter.The case was taken up before High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne.Deputy Solicitor General Lakmali Karunanayake, representing the prosecution, asked for court to hold off the assessment of proof, mentioning the absence of an essential witness who was scheduled to affirm today.Accepting the demand, the judge purchased that the further examination of proof be rescheduled for August 4, 2025.
The Attorney General has submitted the case versus the 3 accused on 27 charges under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and Emergency Regulations.
The charges include conspiring to assassinate General Sarath Fonseka through a suicide battle at the Colombo Army Headquarters on April 25, 2006.
