Law enforcement authorities in the Siberian republic of Tyva jailed a military authorities officer thought of beating injured soldiers before their deployment to Ukraine, Russian mediareported Monday, mentioning the defense ministry.Videos shared previously on social networks by pro-war bloggersshowed a man in a Russian military police uniform striking 2 soldiers with a baton and utilizing a stun gun on among them.
Among the beaten soldiers was seen using crutches.The videos were declared to have been recorded recently Thursday at a military website in Tuva, which lies near the Mongolian border and around 3,700 kilometers (2,300 miles) east of Moscow.
The beaten soldiers were allegedly being sent out to the front lines in Ukraine.Russias Central Military District stated the military police officer thought to have been the one shot in the videos was arrested, according to a statement mentioned in Russian media reports.
It was not immediately clear what charges the officer faces.The Tuva regional governmentsaid it put the investigation into the beating occurrence under unique control after the videos circulated online.
