Russia launched a fresh wave of over night attacks on Ukraine, Ukraines Air Force saidearly Monday, after both Moscow and Kyiv accused each other of breaching an Easter ceasefire that President Vladimir Putin unilaterally revealed on Saturday.Russian forces launched 96 drones and 3 missiles targeting several areas, including Kharkiv in the east and Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy in main Ukraine, according to Ukraines Air Force.Local and regional authorities reported minimal damage and no civilian injuries.In Dnipropetrovsk, a home was harmed and a fire broke out at a food facility, however no one was injured, Governor Serhiy Lysak said on Telegram.
Vitaliy Kim, governor of Ukraines southern Mykolaiv region, stated the attacks there triggered no casualties or damage.Putins order to stop fight operations during the Orthodox Easter weekend followed months of pressure from U.S.
President Donald Trump to press both Moscow and Kyiv towards a ceasefire arrangement.
Last month, the Kremlin declined a broad, 30-day truce proposed by the United States and supported by Ukraine.On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky implicated Russia of 3,000 ceasefire infractions over the weekend.
Still, he noted there were no air raid signals at the time and recommended extending a time out on long-range drone and rocket strikes targeting civilian infrastructure.Russias Defense Ministry, on the other hand, implicated Ukraine of 4,900 ceasefire infractions and verified that its forces had resumed fight operations after the truce expired at midnight.At the exact same time, the Defense Ministry stated it had downed more than 100 Ukrainian drones over the previous 24 hours.Previous efforts at vacation ceasefires, such as throughout Easter in April 2022 and Orthodox Christmas in January 2023, likewise collapsed amidst failed negotiations.AFP contributed reporting.
