Construction has started on a new rug weaving and processing facility in the northern province of Jawzjan after a ground-breaking ceremony was held this week.The new facility will provide jobs for at least 1,000 people and will be built at a cost of $150,000.The facility, which will be built on 2,000 square meters of land in the Aqcha district is being funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).According to Mohammad Ismail Rasekh, the Taliban governor in Jawzjan Province all stages of rug-making will be carried out at the facility once it's complete.This is wonderful news for the people of Afghanistan because, with the establishment of this processing facility, rug cutting and processing will take place here and will be shipped to foreign countries from here,& Rasekh said.Afghanistan is known for having some of the finest hand woven rugs in the world, each with its own unique design and color palette.The post Jawzjan to get a dedicated carpet weaving facility first appeared on Ariana News.
