At least 15 people died and another 15 were hurt in a stampede at the primary train station in India&& 's capital New Delhi on Saturday night, the chief minister of the capital territory told reporters early on Sunday.The incident happened around 8pm local time on two platforms as guests waited to board trains to Prayagraj city, where the Hindu Maha Kumbh festival is being hosted, media reports said.The death toll consisted of 10 ladies and 3 kids, local media stated.
Media showed images and videos of crowds pouring over each other at the station, following the incident, as cops and relief groups toiled to ease the congestion, Reuters reported.Delhi&& 's primary minister Atishi, who only utilizes one name, stated on X that a number of the victims were pilgrims who were going to go to the Maha Kumbh.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and some other federal ministers verified the stampede event in posts on X without divulging the death toll.&& Distressed by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station.
