Weakness in financial, pharma and auto sectors weighed on the markets Domestic stock markets fell in early trade on Friday with the Sensex extending losses to a third straight session amid lacklustre movement in Asian peers.
The S-P BSE Sensex index fell as much as 180.89 points to touch 39,560.47 in morning, and the NSE Nifty hit 11,849.55, down 64.5 points from the previous close.
Weakness in financial, pharma and auto sectors weighed on the markets however advances in metal and infrastructure stocks provided some respite.
However, the Sensex was set to finish the week 0.32 per cent higher as of Thursday's close.
