June 7 with the aim of providing a "modern, seamless experience" to the taxpayers.
"The new e-filing portal is aimed at providing convenience and a modern, seamless experience to taxpayers," the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT)said in a statement on Saturday.The income tax department tweeted this morning that the roll-out was in the final stages andthe new portalwould be available shortly.The portal is integrated with processing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) to issue quick refunds to taxpayers.
The portal will enable the users to file income tax forms, add tax professionals and submit responses to 'Notices in Faceless Scrutiny' or 'Appeals'.
Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their details such as salary, house property, business/profession which will be used in pre-filing of their ITRs.
The portal will also have ITR preparation software for ITR-1, ITR-2 and ITR-4 forms.Meanwhile, the income tax department has announced that it will release a mobile app after the portal launch to enable taxpayers to become familiar with the various features of the new portal.The income tax department has also decided to set up a new call centre for taxpayer assistance.
