Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has stated that a robust e-commerce policy remains in the offingCommerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday ensured that every stakeholder's interest will be thought about while framing the e-commerce policy, which would be a robust one.Mr Goyal likewise stated that he invites all the feedback on the draft e-commerce rules however remarks about inter-departmental issues on the draft guidelines are completely unwarranted.The minister's comments have come following reports that the Department for Promo of Internal Market and Trade (DPIIT), the Corporate Affairs Ministry and the Niti Aayog have challenged some arrangements of the draft e-commerce rules.The report pointing out an RTI reply has declared that Niti Aayog has revealed apprehensions that the draft guidelines might harm ease of doing business.Mr Goyal stated that the whole function of an inter-ministerial assessment was to get views and comments from different quarters.

We are attempting to stabilize everybody's interest and develop a robust structure in which this (policy) can be implemented in the interest of all Indians, the minister said.The very purpose of launching draft guidelines is to generate public opinion, ideas from other departments, from stakeholders, encourage feedback, he stated, including the government has always thought in engaging with all the stakeholders prior to taking a final decision on any policy.Citing example of information personal privacy law, national education policy and jewellery hallmarking standards, the minister stated the federal government conducts stakeholders assessment to get to a great decision.Domestic jewellers are now valuing the hallmarking standards, which they were opposing earlier tooth and nail, he stated.
The consumer rules around the e-commerce are under public consultation.
I warmly welcome feedback from different stakeholders but I need to secure everybody's interest and balance customers interest, ecommerce interests, merchants interests, he stated.
