Fuel prices remained unchanged for 79th day in a row across citiesPetrol, Diesel Prices Today:Fuel prices remained unchangedacross metro cities on Sunday, January 23, 2022, for the 79th day in arow.This is the second-longest pausein prices since the introduction of daily rate revision in June 2017.
The longest halt in fuel prices was that of 82 daysbetween March 17 and June 6, 2020, when the country was under a national lockdown.Last month, the Delhi government had reduced the value-added taxon petrol from 30 per cent to 19.40 per cent.
With this,petrol prices in the national capital were slashed by Rs 8.56 per litre.A litre of petrol costs Rs 95.41 in Delhi,while diesel rates standat Rs 86.67 per litre.
In Mumbai, petrol is retailed at Rs 109.98 per litre, while diesel is being sold at Rs 94.14 per litre.
Among the metro cities, fuel rates are still the highest in Mumbai.
Fuel prices vary across the states due to value-added tax or VAT.

Any changes in petrol and diesel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.Globally, oil prices plunged after rising to seven-year highs lastweek, as an increase in UScrude and fuel stockpiles prompted investors to take profits from the rally.
Brent crude futures dropped $2.46, or 2.8 per cent, to $85.92 a barrel.
