
Indian pilgrims will once again be able to travel to southwest China's Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso, which are considered "sacred mountain and lake" for believers of several religions, including Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism, this summer, a spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Minister said on Monday.Guo Jiakun made the remarks in response to a media inquiry regarding an announcement from India's Ministry of External Affairs that India would organize pilgrimages for Indian devotees to the holy sites in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region from June to August of this year during a regular press conference.The pilgrimage of Indian devotees to Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso is an important part of China-India people-to-people and cultural exchanges, Guo said.The decision to allow Indian pilgrims to visit the holy sites this summer was made following a consensus between the two governments, said Guo, adding that both sides are promoting the relevant preparatory work.Noting this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and India, Guo said China is willing to make joint efforts with India to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote the development of China-India relations along a healthy and stable track.
