Stock market update: Nifty Bank surges 332 points; Axis Bank tops the pack

NEW DELHI: Nifty Bank index closed Thursday's session at 26,017, up by 332 points or 1.29 per cent. Out of total 12 components in the index,
9 settled in the green, while 3 in the red. Axis Bank remained at the top among the gainers, rising 2.92 per cent
It was followed by Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank, each jumping over 2 per cent. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank of
Baroda, HDFC Bank and IndusInd Bank climbed up to 1.72 per cent. IDFC Bank, RBL Bank and Yes Bank, however, declined 0.99 per cent, 0.89 per
cent and 0.55 per cent, respectively. Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty settled in the positive zone on gains in IT, bank,
financial, telecom, pharma and metal stocks amid mixed global cues. The Sensex surged 318 points, or 0.93 per cent, to finish at 34,663,
while Nifty50 climbed 84 points, or 0.80 per cent to rest at 10,514. In the Nifty pack, 34 stocks advanced and 16 declined, while in Sensex
24 remained in the green and 7 in the red. Barring Nifty Auto and realty, all sectors closed with gains on Thursday, with Nifty IT at the
top.
