This is the second day this week (after Mahavir Jayanti on Wednesday) when financial markets are shut due to a public holiday
Globally, stock markets across Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, France, the UK, Germany, the US, Italy and Spain, among others, are shut on
Friday for commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.
Japan, which is open for trading , saw its benchmark Nikkei 225
index rise 0.67 per cent or 147 points, to 22,238 in the early trade, tracking gains in US stocks.
In overnight trade on Wall Street, the
Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4 per cent, the SP500 advanced 0.2 per cent while Nasdaq inched up 0.1 per cent.
Back home, domestic
commodity exchanges NCDEX and MCX will also be shut for the both morning and evening sessions
The rupee gained 25 paise to 69.35 on Thursday, but the forex market will be closed on Friday
The local currency has ended the week 18 paise down .
On Thursday, BSE barometer Sensex slipped 135 points, or 0.34 per cent, to 39,140 with
23 constituents ending in the red
NSE's Nifty settled at 11,753, down 34 points or 0.29 per cent
We may see further consolidation in Nifty50, but the bias would remain on the positive side
