ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that Pakistan has been mulling purchase of arms from Russia.Prime Minister Imran Khan,
in an interview with Russian news agency Sputnik, discussed developing relations with Moscow, his hopes from the upcoming Shanghai
Cooperation Organization summit and the ongoing crisis with India.Asked how he assesses military cooperation with Russia, Imran Khan said:
"We have developed cooperation with Russia between our defense forces
I think our defense personnel have already met

Soviet Union, and Pakistan was close to the United States

question about import of Russian weapons, Khan said: "First, we hope that our tension with India decreases, so we do not have to buy arms
because we want to spend money on human development"."But, yes, we are looking for arms from Russia, and I know our military is already in
touch with the Russian military," Khan commented.The Russian military has reportedly announced that its troops will hold military exercises
with Pakistani forces later this year.PM, in his interview, had said : "I would love to visit Russia
I hope to meet the Russian leadership in this conference in Bishkek, the SCO meeting this coming week."Regarding the prospects of Pak-Russia
cooperation within the SCO, he said they look forward to have exchanges, develop more contacts and improve their trade.PM Khan added:
"Russia is an energy-surplus country
Pakistan has shortages in energy, so we hope to talk on those areas
Apart from defence, we want to also improve our trade in other areas with Russia.""We hope our trade delegations will soon go to Russia
We will invite Russian trade delegations here, get them opportunities to invest in Pakistan
I do believe that there is a Russian steel company, which is looking to invest in our steel mill in Karachi

should be spent on getting people out of poverty, like China got millions and millions of people out of poverty
And so our emphasis should be peace, resolving our differences through dialogue."He said Pakistan's main difference with India is Kashmir

But we hope now that the current prime minister has one big mandate, we hope that he will use this mandate to develop better relationship
