KARACHI: The people of Karachi woke up to wet streets on Monday after light rain hit the port city in wee hours and turned the weather more
pleasant.The much awaited rain for the metropolis began in Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir, Korangi, I
Chundrigar Road, New Karachi , North Karachi, Federal B Area, Kharadar, Saddar, North Nazimabad and adjoining areas.Several roads and the
low-lying areas of the city were waterlogged after light to moderate showers for a couple of hours.The excitement of the rainfall was
somewhat dampened by the power breakdowns and flooded streets in the several parts of the port city.Soon after the first drop of rain fell
down, power breakdowns were reported in many parts of the city
According to the K-electric officials, at least 400 feeders have been tripped.A rain emergency has already been declared by the Karachi
Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Sindh health department in the wake of the rains.Meanwhile, the meteorological office has forecast
more rain, saying intermittent rainfall will continue till Wednesday night, adding that the weather in the city on Monday would remain

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the influence of a low pressure area (LPA), the city could receive heavy showers
from Monday afternoon to Wednesday morning.&We are now expecting rain between 30 and 60 millimetres under the influence of a low pressure
area formed in the Bay of Bengal
