Andhra Pradesh: Installation of new idols at Srikalahasti temple sparks controversy

Srikalahasti temple in Andhra Pradesh.A row erupted in Andhra Pradesh after unidentified men installed two idols at the famous Lord Shiva
temple at Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh.While a complaint was made by the temple authority in connection with installation of idols at the
temple, the BJP launched a protest against the state government for failing to protect Hindu shrines in the state.In their complaint to
police, the temple authorities claimed that two private idols of Shiva and Nandi were found installed inside the temple on September
11.Following the incident, the temple terminated the contract of private security agency guarding the ancient temple which is also known as
Dakshin Kashi.The BJP, which has already been protesting East Godavari chariot fire, launched a fresh agitation.Leaders of the BJP and
Janasena held a protest in Tirupati on Tuesday and demanded the resignation of endowment minister for series of attacks on Hindu
temples.Meanwhile, police said they scrutinised CCTV footage and found that two men kept the idols secretly and left the temple on September
8.The incident took place at a time when Andhra Pradesh Police chief Gautam Sawang has instructed cops to ensure that areas surrounding
temples are under CCTV surveillance and ensure proper lighting arrangements.All SPs have also been asked to keep a vigil on all temples and
other places of worship, apart from geo-tagging the same
communal harmony, certain sections with vested interests have been trying to provoke people of different communities to drive their agenda
