Oppn resorted to vandalism as they didn't have numbers, arguments: BJP's Amit Malviya

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT Cell head Amit Malviya slammed the Opposition MPs for creating a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha on Sunday in
front of the Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh during the passage of the two controversial farm bills, saying the MPs resorted to
vandalism as they did not have any arguments or numbers to oppose the bills. The Opposition MPs, who are accused of creating a massive uproar
in the Rajya Sabha, have alleged that the Deputy Chairman, Harivansh Narayan Singh, did not let the Opposition MPs build the consensus or
speak during the passage of the two agriculture bills
Twelve parties also gave notice of no-confidence against the deputy chairman as the manner in which the Bills were passed is a "murder of
democracy".Responding to the allegations of the Opposition, Amit Malviya, in a piercing attack, said absolutely nothing can justify the kind
of behaviour India saw in the House on Sunday.Parliament Live Updates"If the Opposition had arguments or numbers, they could have voted
against the bills
But neither they had the numbers nor the arguments and so, they resorted to vandalism
They tore the rule book, heckled the deputy chairman
It is called the House of the elders and what we saw was MPs running around, tearing papers and heckling Marshals," Amit Malviya said.On the
allegations that the deputy chairman did not listen to the Opposition MPs to get the farm bills passed and ensure the Opposition gets
isolated, Amit Malviya said they need to be asked if they had numbers or not."Did they have the numbers or not? Did they have the requisite
support or not? Had they have numbers and support, they would not have resorted to vandalism
If the Congress had promised this in 2014 which is now being passed in 2020, why are they opposing the legislation which intends to do what
has been demand not now but for many decades," Amit Malviya said.On protests by the farmer bodies, Amit Malviya said the protests have only
been happening in the Congress-ruled states
He also said the Congress has been using asking its workers to pose as farmers and protest against the farm bills."They [Congress] are using
their workers to pose as farmers
I saw pictures of tractors pulled out of showrooms and Congress workers posing as farmers
I am not saying farmers may not have a genuine concern around it [farm bills] because there is a lot of misinformation the Congress is
trying to spread," Amit Malviya said. The Rajya Sabha passed the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020
and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, through voice vote amid the din
caused by opposition protests.
