Work In Secret Sectors Grew 29% In June Quarter, States Labour Ministry

Quarterly financial survey launched by Labour Ministry has showed task development in crucial sectorsThe quarterly economic study for
April-June duration of financial year 2021-22 released by the Ministry of Labour on Monday showed that overall employment in nine sectors
covered under it was 3.8 crore, 29 per cent more than from 2.37 crore which was recorded throughout the 6th economic census, which had
covered the duration in between January 2013 and April 2014
The 9 sectors picked under the survey are manufacturing, building and construction, trade, transportation, education, health, lodging as
well as Information Technology (IT) or company process outsourcing (BPO) sectors and monetary services.These sectors consist of a
significant chunk of total employment in the nation from non-farm set-ups
Amongst the nine selected sectors, the IT or BPO sector revealed the highest growth of 152 per cent in regards to employment followed by
health, transportation, financial services and building sectors which revealed rise of 77 per cent, 68 per cent, 48 percent and 42 percent
respectively.At the same time though, work in the trade sector fell by 25 percent and in the accommodation and restaurant sector the decline
was 13 per cent, the survey said.Apart from this, the overall participation of females employees was 29 percent, which was a shade lower

In the building sector, 18 per cent are legal staff members while 13 per cent are casual workers, the study kept in mind.
