Crude Oil Processing Gets In September- Increases 2.9% On Firm Need

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
Refiners processed 4.45 million barrels each day (bpd) of petroleum in SeptemberRefiners' crude oil throughput in September edged higher
from the previous month, federal government information showed on Friday, as refineries improved output to meet surging demand.Refiners
processed 4.45 million barrels daily (bpd) (18.21 million tonnes) of petroleum last month, up from the 4.36 million bpd in August, which was
the lowest in 10 months
Refiners have been increasing throughput in order to meet demand during the festive season
Need is expected to increase compared to previous months, as individuals travel more during celebrations, Refinitiv expert Ehsan Ul Haq
said.On a year-on-year basis, refiners' crude oil throughput in September rose about 2.9 per cent, while crude oil production fell about 1.7
per cent to around 600,000 bpd (2.44 million tonnes), the data showed.Indian refiners ran at a typical rate of 88.69 percent of capability
in September, up from 86.89 percent in August, the federal government data showed.Reliance Industries Ltd, the operator of the world's
greatest refining complex, imported almost 12 per cent more oil in September than in August at 1.2 million bpd
Coal shortages are also leading to some fuel changing to oil-related items, which is encouraging refiners to increase runs
Nevertheless, continued high oil prices have the possible to lead to some demand damage, Ul Haq said. The country's September fuel
consumption crawled greater as economic activity continued to ramp up, but soaring international oil prices posture a risk to recovery on
the planet's third-biggest oil importer and consumer.Last month, India indicated a spike in oil costs might accelerate the transition to
alternative energy sources
On the other hand, natural gas output leapt 26.6 percent to 2.90 billion cubic metres, the information showed.
