Parties submit names of PR candidates

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10Political parties that have won proportional representation seats both in the House of
Representatives and provincial assemblies submitted their list of PR candidates to the Election Commission today.
They

The party's CWC meeting is under way and the EC is waiting for the NC's final list. Parties can make amendments in the PR
list in the next two days
The EC had written to parties on Thursday giving them three days to submit the PR candidates list
Parties have to pick from the PR lists that they had submitted earlier to the EC
While selecting PR candidates, parties need to follow the cluster rules from the top
They cannot select names randomly.The CPN-UML and CPN-MC submitted their PR candidates to the EC after getting the names endorsed by the
central committees.A total of 110 candidates are elected for the House of Representatives under the PR election system and 220 for
provincial assemblies.UML selected 22 women, NC 29 and CPN-MC 12.The constitution guarantees 33 per cent representation of women in the HoR
This means if parties cannot ensure victory of adequate number of women candidates under the first-pastthe-post election system, they need
to pick up the required number from their PR lists.The CPN-UML selected Devi Prasad Bhatta Chand, Hemraj Rai, Kaluram Rai, Nainkala Thapa
Magar, Surya Kumari Shreshta, Urmila Thebe, Ishwar Gharti, Rana Kumari Balampakimagar, Shanti Shrestha and Sarswati Subba under the
indigenous nationalities' cluster.Raghuji Panta, Eknath Dhakal, Dayal Bahadur Shahi and Menuka Kumari Pokharel, Sarita Bhusal, Shobha
Gyawali, Bijula Rayamajhi, Nirmala Koirala, Samjhana Thapaliya, Deepa Sharma and Sunita Baral were selected under the Khas Arya
group.Similarly, Ashma Kumari Chaudhary and Shanti Chaudhary were selected under the Tharu cluster and Ishwar Bahadur Rijal, Prabhu Hajara
Paswan, Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma, Rukmani Rana Baraili, and Harkamaya Bishwakarma were selected under the Dalit cluster
Ganga Prasad Yadav and Amritraj Lalbanshi, Bina Devi, Amrita Devi Agrahari, and Pratiksha Tiwari Mukhiya were selected from Madhesi cluster,
and Saraj Ahmad Farakhi from Muslim cluster.UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung read out the names of the PR candidates to mediapersons.Among
the 14 PR candidates selected by CPN-Maoist Centre 12 are women and two are men
They include Durga Rai, Mina Tamang, Urmila Majhi Paudel, Chhiring Lyamu Tamang from indigenous nationalities cluster, Hitraj Pandey, Gyanu
Basnet Subedi, Bimala Subedi and Narayani Sharma from Khas Arya cluster, Rupa Soshi Chaudhary from Tharu cluster, Ranendra Barali and
Sushila Shripali Thakuri from Dalit cluster
CPN-MC selected Mina Yadav, and Umarawati Devi from Madhesi cluster, and Kalpana Miya from backward region.Rastriya Swatantra Party also
selected the names of all 13 PR candidates
The party selected Santosh Pariyar and Shiva Nepali under the Dalit cluster, Dhaka Kumar Shrestha, Indira Rana Magar, and Sumana Shrestha
under the indigenous nationalities cluster, Chanda Karki, Dol Prasad Aryal, Nisha Dangi, and Binita Kathayat under the Khas Arya group, and
Laxmi Tiwari and Manish Jha under Madhesi group
Similarly, the party selected Ashok Kumar Chaudhary under Tharu group and Ashim Shah under Muslim group.Fourteen political parties have won
PR seats in the HoR and provincial assemblies.In the HoR, seven parties including the NC, UML, CPN-MC, Rastriya Swatantra Party, RPP, Janata
Samajwadi Party-Nepal and Janamat Party have won PR seats.RPP has selected Pashupati Shamsher JB Rana, Roshan Karki and Gita Basnet under
the Khas Arya cluster, Buddhiman Tamang and Bina Lama under the indigenous nationalities cluster, and Bina Jayswal from Madhesi and Anisha
Nepali from Dalit clusters.Janamat Party which has won five seats in HoR also submitted its PR candidates list
The party has selected Anita Sah under Madhesi cluster, Sonu Murmu and Binita Kumari Singh under indigenous nationalities, Abdul Khan under
Muslim category and Goma Sapkota under Khas Arya group.Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that all parties except the
