Khapung selected CPN-UMLs Hikmat Kumar Karki as the chief minister of Province 1 this evening
Karki is the UMLs Province 1 Parliamentary Party leader.
Earlier, Karki had actually staked claim to the CMs post prior to the governor,
together with signatures of majority of legislators of the provincial assembly.The UML has 40 seats in the PA, CPN-Maoist Centre has 13,
Rastriya Prajatantra Party six, and Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal backed Karkis appointment as the chief minister with one seat.The letter
staking claim to the CMs post was sent to Governor Khapung bearing signatures of Karki, CPN-Maoist Centre PP leader Indra Bahadur Angbo, RPP
PP leader Bhakti Prasad Sitaula, and JSP-Ns Nirmala Limbu.Chief minister-elect Karki will be sworn in at 2:00 pm tomorrow at the Office of
