INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Ethimale Police Station was detained a short while back (12 Jan.) in connection with the recent incident
involving the big haul of marijuana from the home of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Moneragala.On 09 January, Moneragala SSP,
Sisira Kumara, was arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) for remaining in ownership of over 650 cannabis plants and a metal
detector.It was later exposed that the plants had been prepared for drying at the SSPs main residence.Meanwhile, the Police Constable who
was acting as the driver of SSP Sisira Kumara, a Police Sergeant who was on task at his home, another local of the Monaragala location and 2
other individuals who were living in the Egoda Uyana area of Moratuwa have actually also been jailed in relation to the incident.Further
examinations into the matter were handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who were permitted to apprehend the arrestees
