INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
The Supreme Court today (10 Feb.) rejected the contempt case filed by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) against numerous
celebrations, relating to undisturbed supply of electrical power throughout the 2022 GEC Advanced Level examination.The HRCSL submitted a
contempt case prior to the Supreme Court against the Secretary to the Ministry of Energy - & Power, the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity
Board (CEB) and the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) on 30 January, declaring that the previously mentioned celebrations
had stopped working to comply with the settlement came to prior to the commission with regard to the constant supply of power throughout the
period in which the examination is being held, The 2022 Advanced Level evaluation started on 23 January and will be held till 17 February
Earlier today, the Court of Appeal declined a petition by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) asking for that the Ceylon
Electricity Board (CEB) be bought to supply a continuous supply of electricity throughout the evaluation.
