Gehlot's gaffe: Raj CM reads out old Budget excerpts, sparks chaos

INSUBCONTINENT EXCLUSIVE:
JAIPUR: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot unknowingly read out excerpts from in 2015s state Budget in the assembly for a few minutes on Friday
before the unprecedented bungle was given his notification, turning what was to be a showcase for his Bachat, Rahat, Badhat pitch into an
event for BJP to question if he was fit to govern the state. The chaos arising from Gehlots gaffe, which former CM Vasundhara Raje declared
lasted 8 minutes, resulted in the House being adjourned twice for 30 and 15 minutes each, and the Budget procedures being postponed by an
hour and a half overall
Amid allegations that the state Budget for 2023-24 had actually been dripped , the CM apologised for what he stated was a human mistake
and resumed his speech, this time from the right document
Gehlot had not realised he read out old Budget propositions until Congress chief whip Mahesh Joshi, who was obviously tipped about it by one
of the CMs OSDs, disrupted him
No one else in the House seemed to have understood till then that the CM speaking about increasing workdays under the rural work assurance
scheme as part of pandemic relief was an emphasize of the 2022-23 Budget. The discovery immediately brought the opposition benches to life,
changing the up until now muted scepticism about Gehlots last Budget.
