Tuesday, while dismissing a PIL seeking disqualification of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and Union law minister Kiren Rijiju for
apparently showing absence of faith in the Constitution through their public utterances
The Constitution of India is supreme and sacrosanct, stated the HC bench of Acting Chief Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice Sandeep Marne
in a 7 page order authored by the Acting CJ
Justice Gangapurwala said, Every person of India is bound by the Constitution and is anticipated to abide by the constitutional values
The constitutional institutions are to be respected by all, consisting of constitutional authorities and individuals holding constitutional
posts
The PIL by a legal representatives body, Bombay Lawyers Association, and its president supporter Ahmad Abdi had looked for invocation of
the extraordinary powers of the HC under Article 226 for removal of the vice president and law minister for likewise not showing respect to
the SC and attacking the collegium system in addition to the standard structure doctrine of the Constitution.The HC order stated, The
constitutional authorities can not be eliminated in the manner as recommended by the petitioner
