Amritpal Singh's supporters clash with police in Amritsar

AMRITSAR: Scuffle broke out at several places between police and the followers of self-proclaimed religious leader Amritpal Singh, president
of Waris Punjab Dae, at Ajnala in Punjab's Amritsar on Thursday.A large number of followers of Amritpal had started gathering at Ajnala in
the morning on Thursday to hold a meeting in front of the police station to protest against the filing of an FIR against Amritpal and his
associates.Police had also made heavy security arrangements and laid barricades to prevent Amritpal and his associates to reach the Ajnala
police station
The police force from as many as five districts was deployed in Ajnala to prevent any untoward incident.Amritpal had warned to hold a
meeting at Ajnala and offer court arrest if the government did not scrap the FIR registered against him and his associates.Notably, Varinder
Singh, a resident of Chamkaur Sahib, had filed a complaint against Amritpal and his followers for allegedly kidnapping and thrashing him
while he was in Ajnala to attend a religious function.Amritpal had denied the charges and claimed that the police had registered a case
against him and his followers on the complaint of a mentally unstable person who had already been spewing venom against his
