Girl, 2, who suffered 60 dog bites succumbs in Surat

SURAT: A two-year-old girl, who was brutally mauled by a pack of stray dogs on Sunday, succumbed to the injuries at the New Civil Hospital
on Thursday.The girl, Marsila Hemron, had around 60 bite injuries all over her body after being attacked near the Surat Diamond Bourse

Her father Ravi Kahar, a migrant worker from West Bengal, works as a labourer at the project site and lives there with his family.Doctors
tried to save her life, but she died due to multiple organ failure, a preliminary postmortem examination revealed
The girl had suffered severe injuries on the head as well
She was administered 30 anti-rabies vaccine injections all over her body as part of the treatment
"During a detailed examination, doctors found 60 small and severe bite wounds on the body
There were a few deep bite wounds too," said Dr Ketan Naik, resident medical officer, NCH
"Surgery and treatment were done by a team of doctors from paediatrics, gyanecology and surgery departments
It seems that she suffered septicemic shock and multiple organ failure," added Naik
Septicemic or septic shock is a life-threatening condition where a patient's blood pressure drops drastically due to infection.The stray dog
menace in the city has reached alarming proportions
This was the fourth brutal attack reported on children in the Surat city and district in the past two months
In the four attacks, two children died since February 8.
