The Attorneys representing the spouse of previous Minister Wimal Weerawansa, Shashi Weerawansa, provided a medical report to the Colombo
Magistrates Court this morning (24 Feb.), claiming that their client was unable to appear in court today owing to an illness.The appropriate
medical report was presented when the case submitted versus Shashi by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), charging her with the
submission of falsified documents to protect a diplomatic passport, was used up this morning.Accordingly, Shashis legal counsel described
that she was unable to appear in court as the medical report specified that she needs three days of rest.Upon factor to consider of the
realities, Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis ordered that the case be contacted 28 February.On 27 May 2022, Shashi Weerawansa was
sentenced to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment after she was founded guilty of producing forged documents to obtain a diplomatic passport
