[Iran] - Tehran hosts 13th RCUWM board conference

TEHRAN - The 13th meeting of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM)s governing board was held in Tehran on Thursday.Chaired
by Iranian Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, the occasion was attended by ministers, deputies and representatives of 15 countries and 8
member organizations, the website of the ministry reported.The ministers of Tajikistan, Iraq, and Bangladesh, together with the deputies and
agents of the water sectors of Oman, Qatar, Armenia, Syria, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Turkey, and Switzerland, were
among the attendees of the meeting.Promotion of integrated management of water resources at the regional level, transfer of experiences and
technical understanding in the field of incorporated management of rivers with the method of revitalization, re-naturalization, and upkeep
of their balance conditions, developing a local cooperative system in order to adapt city water supply against climate modification,
developing and introducing the regional drought risk tracking system, forecasting and management (West Asia and Central Asia region), new
water and wastewater treatment and recycling technologies with a concentrate on non-conventional water, improving the abilities of experts
and specialists of city water supply and enhancing water quality in the region from capacity building to capacity advancement and also, the
preparation of a book on water governance in the member countries of the Centers Council of Governors were among the concerns gone over at
the event.Speaking at the event, Mehrabian praised the substantial role of the RCUWM, saying that the council is the greatest pillar for the
advancement of local and worldwide cooperation in the water sector, which mainly operates in the west, south, and central Asia in addition
to North Africa
*** Water industry exhibit hung on sidelines of RCUWM meetingConcurrent with the RCUWM meeting in Tehran, an exhibition was held to display
Irans latest accomplishments in the water industry.The exhibit was accepted the aim of presenting the accomplishments and capabilities of
Iranian business active in the market to other members of the local center of metropolitan water management.As reported, 10 big companies
active in the countrys water and electrical energy industry that have a history of worldwide activities or a part of their products are
exported to other countries took part in this exhibition.Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) has been established under the
auspices of UNESCO in 2002 in Tehran-Iran
