[India] - PFI 'master weapon fitness instructor' arrested from Karnataka: NIA

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday arrested a Popular Front of India (PFI) master weapons trainer, who had not
only assumed a new identity and relocated to Karnataka but also changed his profession to escape the law, for his involvement in the
Nizamabad PFI terror conspiracy case.The Nizamabad PFI case pertains to a criminal conspiracy hatched by the leaders and cadres of the now
banned outfit PFI to recruit and radicalise youth and provide them with arms training to promote - carry out terrorist activities with the
ultimate objective of establishing Islamic rule in India.The 33-year-old accused, Nossam Mohamed Yunus @ Yunus of Nandyal, was working in
the inverter business of his elder brother
When his original home in Andhra Pradesh was searched in September 2022, he was found to be absconding along with his wife and two minor
sons.NIA investigations have revealed that he had relocated with his family to the Cowl Bazar area of Bellary district of Karnataka, where
training to the youth recruited by PFI in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region
He was also the Physical Education Training State Coordinator for these two states.Yunus, who has been giving evasive replies during NIA
interrogation, has named one Shaikh ilyas Ahmed as another person involved in the PFI Weapons Training programme
Police had initially registered an FIR in the case on July 4, 2022
NIA took over the case and re-registered the FIR
Two chargesheets have been filed against 16 accused in the case so far.
